Our Go Green Plan
Caring for our clients. Caring for our planet. Committed to Net Zero by 2050.
At Care Compassion Ltd, sustainability is part of how we care. As a community-rooted care provider serving Brent, Harrow and beyond, we recognise that the health of the people we support is inseparable from the health of the world around them. Our Go Green Plan sets out the steps we are taking, today and over the next decade, to measure, manage and reduce our environmental impact — in line with the UK Government’s Procurement Policy Note PPN 06/21 and our commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Our Commitment to Net Zero
Care Compassion Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. To get there, we have established our first formal carbon baseline (2026) and adopted a clear five‑year reduction target, with measurable progress reported each year. Our Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21, the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard, and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases produced before any reduction strategies are introduced — the reference point against which all future progress is measured. This is the first time Care Compassion has reported its carbon footprint, so the 2026 figures establish our official baseline. The calculation is based on our financial accounting year of February to January.
Our baseline includes: Scope 1 (Direct Emissions), Scope 2 (Indirect Emissions), and Scope 3 — Categories 4 (Upstream transportation & distribution), 5 (Waste generated in operations), 6 (Business travel / hotel stays) and 7 (Employee commuting / teleworking). Scope 3 Category 9 (Downstream transportation & distribution) is not included, as no transport is paid for by customers.
| Emissions (Baseline Year: 2026) | Total (tCO₂e) |
|---|---|
| Scope 1 — Direct Emissions | 2.7 tCO₂e |
| Scope 2 — Indirect Emissions | 0.9 tCO₂e |
| Scope 2 (Market-based) | 0.9 tCO₂e |
| Scope 3 — Categories 4, 5, 6 & 7 | 183.8 tCO₂e |
| Total Emissions | 187.4 tCO₂e |
| Total Emissions (Market-based) | 187.4 tCO₂e |
Emissions Reduction Targets
To continue our progress toward Net Zero, we have adopted carbon reduction targets aligned with PPN 06/21. We project that our total emissions will decrease over the next five years from 187.4 tCO₂e in 2026 to 148.3 tCO₂e by 2031 — a reduction of 20.8%. Progress will be reviewed and reported annually.

What We’re Already Doing
The following environmental measures have been completed or implemented since our 2026 baseline and remain in effect across our operations:
- Encouraging the use of public transport between patient visits
- Promoting cycling and walking to work for our staff
- Reducing paper use across the business wherever practical
- Confidentially shredding and recycling any paper we do use
- Reusing non-confidential paper in art and craft activities with our clients
- Sending used printer cartridges to St Luke’s Hospice, who earn funds from their recycling
What We’re Planning Next
Looking ahead, we plan to introduce further measures to deepen our impact:
- Replacing petrol company cars with hybrid or fully electric vehicles as they come up for renewal
- Switching to a fully renewable energy tariff for our office
- Promoting smarter route planning to reduce travel between jobs
- Adopting a green procurement policy — favouring suppliers with their own Net Zero targets
- Installing LED lighting and PIR sensors in office spaces
